Although most of the Canadian population identifies as Christian, Christianity is on the decline in Canada.  Society has become increasingly secular.  Evangelicals constitute less than 8% of the population today (down from 25% one hundred years ago).  Citizens enjoy the right to freedom of religion, guaranteed by the constitution of Canada and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
